Winter Haven, FL, April 6, 1998
CompAge Inc., a local interconnect and computer network service
company, has donated all parts, materials, and labor to help
the Headquarters of the Polk County Chapter of the American
Red Cross successfully complete their move to new offices. The
Polk County American Red Cross offices are moving from 1203
First Street, South, Winter Haven to 147 Ave. A, NW, Winter
Haven this week.
CompAge will ensure that the Polk County Red Cross offices
have continuous operation of their existing phone systems
so they may continue their work for Polk County emergency
relief. In addition, CompAge will donate the setup and installation
of the local area network for the internal use of the Polk
County Red Cross. That network will be compatible with the
nationwide Red Cross network that connects all Red Cross offices
throughout the United States.
CompAge completed the installation of the Category 3 (telephone)
and Category 5 (computer) cabling networks in the new site
in March. The move of existing telephone equipment was completed
on Friday, April 3, 1998. Network services are scheduled for
later this month.

When John Biglin, President of CompAge, was asked why he volunteered
to provide this service, he replied "I believe in helping
people, and this is an opportunity to help people who help
a lot of people. I challenge other local businesses to donate
what they can."
"The Polk County Chapter American Red Cross wishes to
thank CompAge for their very generous donation. The networking
system was beyond our budget resources. The system will allow
us to serve our Polk County clients in a much more timely
and efficient manner. Also with their help our phone system
has been moved and we are operating with no down time during
our move." Said Mary Ellin Turner, Director of Volunteers
& Administration for the Polk County Chapter American
Red Cross.
